The Rome Public Prosecutor's Office has registered as a suspect the driver of the tanker that exploded on Friday, July 4, while unloading LPG gas at the service station on Via del Gordiani in Rome.

He is charged with manslaughter, negligent disaster and serious injury , because the accident has already caused the death of one man and because it has caused significant damage which is still being quantified.

The man was injured and is hospitalized with a guarded prognosis at Sant'Eugenio.

The initial police report summarizes what happened, including footage from local security cameras. What is certain is that the tanker hit the filling station's fueling station—human error, therefore—causing a series of sparks. What happened next and how the actual explosion occurred, however, remains unclear.

It is likely that a large-scale consultation will be arranged to dispel any doubts about the case.
