Last June he engraved his name and that of his girlfriend on the Colosseum, "Ivan+Hayley 23". Now Ivan Danailov Dimitrov, the English tourist of Bulgarian origins, has offered to compensate for the damage caused and to pay the sum of 965 euros to obtain the conditional suspension of his sentence, but despite his lawyer's constant requests, no one provided him with the IBAN to which he could make the transfer.

Il Messaggero reports it. The prosecutor investigating those events, Nicola Maiorano, gave the OK and delegated the Carabinieri to "ascertain and communicate the extent of the damage" urgently. The report arrived last June 26th, in which it is explained that to restore the damage, 965 euros are needed, two days of work by a high-level restorer, in addition to the rental of equipment and the purchase of materials.

Then the Prosecutor's Office delegated the local police of Rome Capital to acquire the bank details of the Archaeological Park. But after more than three months and several reminders, the IBAN has still not been provided. From the Archaeological Park they report that the manager of the Budget and Payments Office of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage will take action as soon as possible to resolve the impasse.

Dimitrov, 27, was caught by another tourist while defacing the monument and sentenced to a 965 euro fine. He also wrote a letter to Mayor Gualtieri: «I admit with deep embarrassment that only following what regrettably happened did I learn of the antiquity of the monument. Aware of the gravity of the act committed, I wish with these lines to address my most heartfelt and honest apologies to Italians and the whole world for the damage caused to an asset which, in fact, is the heritage of all humanity".
