Tragedy occurred yesterday afternoon in the Lecce area , where a 65-year-old mechanic, Sergio Cesarano, an employee of a company specializing in technical and mechanical assistance for heavy vehicles, died after suffering serious head injuries while changing the tire of a broken-down truck on the provincial road connecting Miggiano to Taurisano.

According to reports, one of the jacks used gave way, causing the truck to lose its balance and hit the worker, causing him a serious head injury with a deep wound.

Rescued by an ambulance, he was transported to the Tricase hospital in serious condition, but the medical care was in vain.

Officers from the Taurisano police station and inspectors from Spesal arrived on the scene. The magistrate on duty ordered the vehicle seized.
