Wave of severe weather hits Italy: alert issued for Lombardy and Liguria, one person missing in Enna

Bad weather alert has been issued in Italy, while in Sicily one person has already been reported missing: two cars ended up in the Crisa torrent in Leonforte, in the province of Enna , due to heavy rains. While two occupants were saved first by climbing onto the roofs of the cars, and then thanks to the intervention of the firefighters, a third - according to survivors' testimonies - is missing .
The Civil Protection Department has issued orange alerts for today for parts of Liguria and Lombardy, and a yellow alert for the remaining areas of the two regions, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Tuscany, and some areas of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Marche.
Lorenzo Tedici, meteorologist and media manager at iLMeteo.it, explains that the next few hours will see the last spike in temperatures across much of the country . In a few days, highs will drop by as much as 10 degrees, especially in the north. In short, temperatures will drop from 40 degrees to 25 degrees during the central hours of the day.
A downpour and lightning storm hit Milan overnight, where the Lambro River is under special observation , at risk of flooding. Marco Granelli, City Councilor for Mobility and the Environment, posted on social media that, so far, nearly 50 mm of water has fallen in the deluge that began at 2:00 AM . "The Lambro," he stated, "has exceeded 2.40 meters in Via Feltre, and the evacuation of the Ceas community has been ordered. In Ponte Lambro, Via Vittorini has been closed with mobile flood barriers."
All public parks in the city are closed by order of Palazzo Marino. The municipality of Bergamo has also decided to close its parks and gardens.
