Investigations continue to clarify what happened in Soliera, in the province of Modena, where a 13-month-old baby fell from the second floor of his home, perhaps thrown by his babysitter .

The woman, Monica Santi , 32 years old and with a degree in Economics and Commerce, residing with her parents in nearby Carpi, is currently in prison . "Now the child is free," he said according to some witnesses immediately after the accident.

“I saw her at the window and then in the house, on the first floor. Impassive, she did not move, impaled like this ... It made an impression on me ”, says a neighbor to Corriere della Sera, precisely the first who called for help after the child was found on the ground.

It was 10.20, explains Simonetta Bergianti, “and I left the house because the neighbor who was returning by bike, from the back of the terraced houses saw the lifeless child in the courtyard. Incredulous, she didn't know what to do ... she saw my car parked in the street and called my parents on the intercom. I was with them, I went to visit them. 'Run down', she shouted ... So I went out of the kitchen, the little one was on the pavement. I felt like I was dying, my little body lying on the ground. Poor thing, he was already struggling to breathe, he had black lips ... ".

The woman who takes care of the house cleaning in the child's house (the second adult in the house besides the nanny) ran down and picked him up: “The little one threw up, he started to breathe better,” Bergianti recalls.

In short, everyone ran around him to help him, while in those excited moments the babysitter remained at home " motionless, not a sign, nothing at all ".

The child is now in a reserved prognosis, has various fractures but his condition is stable .
