The Carabinieri have arrested the alleged perpetrator of the rape of a 60-year-old woman, which occurred at dawn on Sunday in Tor Tre Teste park in Rome. The 26-year-old man, of Gambian origin and an illegal immigrant, is accused of sexual assault and robbery. The young man was located near Termini station thanks to surveillance footage that captured him walking down the street wearing a black T-shirt, light-colored shorts, and a cap.

According to the reconstruction, the victim—at the time of the attack—was walking her dog, as she did every morning, in the park a few meters from her home. The man, after snatching her cell phone from her fanny pack, raped her. The victim was able to call 911 only after returning home. Emergency medical services and the Carabinieri of the Casilina company arrived immediately and began an investigation to fully understand the incident and identify the perpetrator.

"It was a nightmare that lasted ten minutes," the woman, still in shock, reportedly told emergency responders. The sixty-year-old was then taken to the hospital, where the pink protocol for female victims of violence was activated. The president of the Municipio V, Mauro Caliste, intervened in the matter, expressing his "sympathy and solidarity" with the sixty-year-old and emphasizing: "We have long been denouncing the fact that this area, like others in the quadrant, is too isolated and that without constant police surveillance, it becomes a breeding ground for crime."
