A suspect is under investigation for the death of Aurora Livoli, the 19-year-old whose body was found last Monday in a courtyard on Via Paruta, on the northern outskirts of Milan. According to reports, the suspect is a 57-year-old Peruvian national whom the Carabinieri arrested the day after her body was found for an attempted robbery committed shortly before the meeting with the girl. Meanwhile, an autopsy is still underway to determine the cause of death.
It was footage from subway cameras that focused suspicions on the 57-year-old. The videos analyzed by the Carabinieri in the investigation coordinated by prosecutor Antonio Pansa captured the girl and the man, who has yet to be questioned by the prosecutor.
The man, who has a criminal record for sexual assault and is undocumented, was tracked down and arrested by the Carabinieri of the Milan Investigative Unit and the Operations Unit of the Milan Porta Monforte Company, charged with attempted aggravated robbery against a 19-year-old Peruvian woman. In this case, the attempted robbery occurred on the evening of December 28th at the Cimiano M2 station, not far from where Aurora Livoli's body was found the following day. The 56-year-old had violently attacked the young Peruvian woman from behind, left alone on the platform, and taken her cell phone, squeezing her around the neck with one arm and holding her mouth shut with the other . He attempted to drag her to a corner of the station, but she managed to break free and retrieve her phone as a train approached.
The passengers who got off the bus helped her, while he ran away, trying to blend in with the onlookers by wearing his reversible jacket inside out. "Further investigations, still underway by the Carabinieri," a statement explains, "have led to serious evidence of guilt against the same man in connection with the discovery of Aurora Livoli's body."
