Virginia Giuffre, the woman who accused Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew of sexual abuse, has taken her own life. Her family announced. The 41-year-old American woman took her own life in her home in Australia.

“She committed suicide on her farm after being sexually abused all her life,” her relatives said. Giuffre had accused the late disgraced US billionaire Epstein of using her as a sex slave. Britain’s Prince Andrew has repeatedly denied the allegations that he abused her when she was 17 and managed to avoid prosecution by paying a multimillion-dollar settlement .

“Eventually the burden of the abuse became so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle,” the woman’s family added, remembering her “incredible courage and loving spirit.”

Giuffre leaves behind three children: Christian, Noah and Emily. Her attorney Sigrid McCawley said Giuffre had been a “dear friend” and a champion for other victims: “Her courage pushed us to fight harder and her strength was impressive.”
