Joe Biden is 10 points behind Donald Trump in a Washington Post-ABC News White House poll (42% to 52%), an exception to all other polls that indicate a head-to-head.

The survey, however, shows that the president continues to lose ground as dissatisfaction with his management of the economy and immigration increases , a growing number of Americans say that the US is doing too much to help Ukraine and there remain widespread concerns about his advanced age .

More than 3 in 5 Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents say they would prefer a candidate other than the president.

But Biden's advisers say he is the strongest Democrat in 2024 and that those who want someone else disagree on who it should be, with 8% pointing to Vice President Harris, 8% pointing to Senator Bernie Sanders and 20 % who prefers "just someone else".

Trump is in a strong position nationally despite facing multiple criminal trials. He is favored by 54% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, up from 51% in May. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is second with 15%, down from 25% in May.

No other Republican reaches double digits.

Trump is also leading his Republican rivals in recent state polls, which likely offer more reliable indicators than national polls of how the Republican race will fare in the coming months.
