It should be a day of talks today, the second day after Monday, to try to reach a truce in the war between Russia and Ukraine. From the latest information, the meeting - which was supposed to take place in the western Bialowieza Forest - appears not to take place. However, official news is expected.
The Kremlin has made it known that its delegation is ready to continue the peace talks and will arrive in the late afternoon in a place that has not been clarified.
In the last hours and in the night there have been numerous attacks by the Moscow forces: a missile raid hit an apartment building in Zhytomyr, west of Kiev, near the hospital. Four victims and several injured. And the Russian paratroopers have also landed, in the streets there are fire fights.
Meanwhile, American President Joe Biden spoke to the reunited Congress, in his first official speech on the State of the Union. He paid tribute to the Ukrainian people in the presence of the Kiev ambassador, Oksana Markarova.
"Six days ago Vladimir Putin - said the Washington chief - tried to shake the foundations of the free world thinking that he could bend it to his threats but he miscalculated. He thought that he could enter Ukraine and that the world would be surrendered, instead he found a wall of resistance he never imagined, he found the Ukrainian people ”.
Putin has been defined as "a Russian dictator who sowed violence and chaos", he is now "more isolated than ever" and must pay the price for his shares because "freedom always triumphs over tyranny". "He can surround Kiev with tanks - added Biden - but he will never have the hearts and souls of the Ukrainian people". It also announced the closure of American airspace to Russian flights, in the wake of what has been done by the EU and Canada.
