First sentence in the USA for the tragic shooting on the set of the film "Rust" , which cost the life in 2021 of the assistant director Halyna Hutchins , 42 years old, hit by a real bullet fired from a gun handled by the actor Alec Baldwin who should have been instead loaded with fake shots.
The production's gunsmith – Hannah Gutierrez-Reed – was found guilty and faces (the sentence will be quantified later) up to 18 months in prison .
According to reports from Reuters and the BBC, the 26-year-old also brought with her to the set set up in New Mexico a box of real bullets, one of which ended up in the magazine of the revolver held by Baldwin. For the public prosecutor it would have been a "tragic and reckless negligence".
Baldwin, as is known, is also charged for the death of Halyna Hutchins, and the sentence is expected next summer.
