Texas, missing girl found dead on her way to school
Audrii Cunningham's body was in a river. A family friend is accused
Audrii Cunningham, the little girl who disappeared six days ago while going to school in Texas, has been found dead. The confirmation was given by Polk County Sheriff Byron Lyons.
The body was in the Trinity River, the cause of death is currently unknown.
Prosecutor Shelly Sitton said her office is preparing an arrest warrant for Don Steven McDougal, 42, who had already been arrested as a person of interest in recent days. And he added that in his opinion he deserves capital punishment.
McDougal was a friend of Audrii's father and lived in a trailer on the family's property. Sometimes he accompanied the 11-year-old to the school bus stop, as he also did last Thursday. However, that was the last time the girl's family saw her.
