Russia: Putin's party wins elections with nearly 50% of the vote

Vladimir Putin's United Russia party won the elections for the Duma (the lower house of the Russian parliament) with 49.4% of the vote, according to state television. This result is almost identical to that of five years ago, when, with 49.8% of the vote, United Russia won 324 of the 550 seats in the Duma.
