Xi Jinping in Washington: "China and the US should be partners, not adversaries."

"I am pleased to pay a state visit to the United States at the invitation of President Donald Trump. On behalf of the Chinese people, I extend my sincere greetings and best wishes to the American people," President Xi Jinping said in a statement released by Beijing's diplomatic corps after his arrival in Washington.

China and the United States, the Chinese leader emphasized, "are both great nations," with "great peoples." For this reason, Xi added, the two countries "should be partners, not adversaries," and "the great revival of the Chinese nation and the return to greatness of America can be achieved simultaneously, to their mutual benefit and for the benefit of the entire world."
