Wayne Couzens, a 48-year-old policeman, who kidnapped, raped and killed 33-year-old Sarah Everard after a false arrest order for Covid was sentenced to life.

The event took place last March in a residential area of London, the criminal court of the Old Bailey in London in issuing the sentence called the murder "brutal".

The sentence imposed on Couzens provides for life imprisonment without the possibility of release under the legal institution of parole.

Judge Fulford said "undoubtedly Couzens used his position as a police officer" to commit the crime.

This rekindles the controversy against the police and Scotland Yard, which has repeatedly condemned what has been done by its official.

"Couzens is an absolute shame for the police service. No sentence will ever ease the pain for Sarah's family and friends or undo the terrible damage this disgusting man has caused," reads a statement from the Police Federation of England. and Wales.

This and other recent femicides have spread a sense of fear among British women, many of them no longer feeling safe walking around the street. All the more so if the danger also comes from those who should defend them, as in this case.
