Alessandro Di Battista, who suffered a serious illness in Cuba and is now hospitalized in Havana, is scheduled to return to Italy on Thursday, according to well-informed sources. The same sources explain that the intention is to move his flight from Cuba to tomorrow, but it is unlikely that the transfer will be arranged before September 3rd.

"I'm in contact with Alessandro Di Battista's family because this is a matter that's particularly close to my heart. We feel sincere affection for him," said Five Star Movement leader Giuseppe Conte in an interview on La7's In Onda. He added: "His condition appeared serious, serious from the beginning, but the news is being shared by his family. We're helping by staying close to him and hope he can return to Italy soon and make a full recovery."

The government is also closely monitoring the situation: "We are working towards their return to Italy," confirmed Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
