It is the first Christmas that Queen Elizabeth spends without her husband, Prince Philip, who died last April . But the sovereign, on the occasion of the usual message to the nation, wanted to remember it, speaking of the Duke of Edinburgh referring to his "sense of duty", "intellectual curiosity" and "the ability to get the fun out of every situation" .

Not only the words but also the objects spoke of the consort: the queen was sitting at a table with the photo on display with her husband - a shot from 2007 when they celebrated 60 years of marriage -, she also wore a sapphire brooch (the one that had on their honeymoon and their anniversary).

A commemoration in memory of the Duke will be held at Westminster Abbey in the spring, as only 30 people were able to attend his funeral due to Covid restrictions.

This year, Elisabetta said, "Covid means again that we cannot celebrate as we would have liked".

While giving his speech to the nation, the alarm went off in Windsor: a 19-year-old armed man managed to enter the park. Immediately identified, he was blocked by the guards and arrested.
