The Green pass is mandatory in the Vatican on October 1st. To access the Papal State, the palaces of the Holy See and the basilicas, he must show the certificate, otherwise he will not be able to enter.

Liturgical celebrations are an exception since the faithful will be able to attend masses and functions without having to present the document, but only "for the time strictly necessary to carry out the rite" and in any case respecting the anti-Covid provisions, such as distancing, use of personal protective equipment, the adoption of specific hygiene rules and, obviously, avoiding gatherings.

In any case, the Vatican Green pass, the European one or a negative, molecular or antigenic test will also be valid for access to the Vatican territory.

The norms were established today and are contained in the ordinance of the president of the Pontifical Commission of the Vatican City State, Cardinal Giuseppe Bertello, who actually received the indications of Pope Francis in recent days.

St. Peter's Square should be free from the new restrictions, where access will be granted without a Green pass. On the contrary, the certificate should be mandatory for the Wednesday audience in the Paul VI Hall.

The obligation, it is clarified, concerns "citizens, residents of the State, staff in service, for any reason, in the Governorate of the Vatican City State and in the various Bodies of the Roman Curia and the institutions connected to it, all visitors and users of services ". So even the cardinals will have to adapt.
