Israel returns - again - to the polls .

The Knesset - the Parliament of the Jewish state - definitively voted the law, at the initiative of the government, for the dissolution of the 24th legislature and set the date of November 1 for the next political elections.

Current Foreign Minister Yair Lapid will become interim prime minister until the vote, taking over from Naftali Bennett . The latter has announced that he will not run again, to take a break from political activity .

In these hours, the now former premier has invited the population to unity. "Only together can we win. Let's respect each other instead of hatred", his words.

Bennett also thanked the ministers of his composite majority (right, center, left and the Arab Raam party) saying "it was an excellent government backed by a complex coalition".

With the vote it is hoped to obtain a more homogeneous, compact and less varied majority. Objective so far distant: those of next November will in fact be the fifth elections in 3 and a half years .
