The neo-Nazi rally that a year ago led to the arrest of Ilaria Salis and her detention in Hungarian prisons where rules and conditions border on the rule of law apply is back in Budapest. And it arrives in the aftermath of a disturbing intimidation evoked by a mural, which appeared in the Hungarian capital, which depicts a woman hanged from a gallows: the writing "Ila antifa" is unmistakable, and sounds like a death threat for "Ilaria the anti-fascist", so much so as to push the Italian government to intervene.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani has asked the ambassador to Hungary Manuel Jacoangeli to verify the facts relating to the intimidating image with the Hungarian authorities, Farnesina sources explain. The ambassador "will carry out the necessary steps with the Hungarian authorities to reiterate that the Italian government supports the protection of the dignity and safety of the Italian woman".

According to what we learn from Farnesina sources, in the context of improving detention conditions, any local external interference in Salis' detention must be avoided. The climate in Budapest is dominated by neo-Nazi intimidation. Although this time, the neo-Nazi "Day of Honor" rally (prohibited every year, but so far always tolerated by the authorities who more or less directly report to Prime Minister Viktor Orban) had to desert the center of the capital and move into the woods. Until late afternoon, no incidents similar to those of which the Milanese teacher is accused were reported, at least according to the Hungarian media which reported a peaceful demonstration by around a hundred anti-fascists kept under control - and above all separated from the neo-Nazis - by as many agents with dogs policeman and a drone.

"Let's not give up, this city is ours", proclaimed Bela Incze, the leader of the far-right formation "Legio Hungaria" who organized the celebration of the "Day of Honour" and announced that the militants in uniforms soldiers, flags and other neo-Nazi symbols would have moved to the wooded surroundings of Budapest to avoid street clashes with the police mobilized in force in the centre.
