Passport withdrawal and accusation of failure to keep animals in Malindi for a lawyer from Bergamo, Rita Duzioni : one of the five dogs she keeps at Adamson Place, a residence where she stays part of the year, bit Chetrin Gelmi, from Brescia for seven years in Malindi, Kenya, and since 2019 manager director of the Briatore resort "Lion in the Sun", which is located opposite.

The facts date back to April 16, 2023: one of the dogs guarding the residence bit the manager as she left the Briatore resort. The wound required ten stitches. The lawyer was not in Kenya but the accusation was made anyway.

«In that period I was contacted by the lady and we had agreed on compensation of 400 euros, which I had paid, receiving a receipt message which unfortunately I no longer have», says the lawyer. But when Duzioni returned to Malindi she discovered that the tourist police wanted to see her . «When I showed up they stopped me - she tells the newspapers - they took my fingerprints, they notified me of the charge and took me to court. Here they set bail and took my passport away."

During the trial "the plaintiff's lawyer showed me a piece of paper with which he asked me to pay the equivalent of 20 thousand euros to withdraw the complaint and get my passport back". The story is part of the complaint with which Duzioni accuses Gelmi and his lawyer of extortion, also asking to get his passport back and to be able to return to Italy. "There is a trial underway - Gelmi limited herself to commenting - and I don't want to go into the merits of the facts."
