Brigitte Macron's nephew beaten by several protesters.

This was confirmed by the family and the French première dame herself, denouncing the "cowardice, stupidity and violence" of the attackers. Eight of them were arrested, six men and two women.

Jean-Baptiste Trogneux, 30, son of a nephew of the French president's wife, was surrounded and shot by a dozen demonstrators last night in Amiens, the birthplace of Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron, at the end of the TV speech by the head of State.

Trogneux, owner of a chocolate shop in the center of Amiens on whose sign stands the family surname and the inscription "for 5 generations", had just left his house, an apartment located just above the shop, after having followed the TV interview with the president.

A dozen people, seeing and recognizing him, detached themselves from the ongoing demonstration, against the pension reform, and headed towards the family shop: "They were part of a group of demonstrators who meet regularly in front of the town hall". reported the father of the victim, Jean-Alexandre Trogneux. First they started throwing stones and bins at the window of the Trogneux family's "Chocolaterie" then they violently attacked Brigitte's nephew with blows to the head and kicks.

"He ended up on the ground and curled up - his father told the local newspaper Le Courrier Picard - to protect himself. But he has wounds to the head, face, knee and hand .'

"We have long feared being targeted by opponents of the pension reform due to our kinship with the Macrons" but "the shop does not do politics", said the family members: "Emmanuel Macron has nothing to do with the shop - insisted the father of the victim - I don't understand these people who target us, some have even campaigned to boycott our products. With this aggression we have crossed all limits, I am baffled ».

“I am totally in solidarity with my family and have been in constant communication since last night at 11pm with Jean-Baptiste, my nephew who was the victim of the assault, and Jean-Alexandre, his father. On several occasions I have denounced this violence which can only lead us to the worst", the words of Brigitte Macron.
