In the words of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, order in Kazakhstan has been "mostly restored" after days of unprecedented violent protests. "The police are working hard. Constitutional order has mostly been restored in all regions," the head of state said in a statement adding that security operations will continue "until the total destruction of the militants" .

The interior ministry said in the past few hours that "26 criminals" have been killed and 18 injured in days of unrest. The note also underlines that all regions have been "liberated and placed under greater protection" with 70 checkpoints installed in the country.

The demonstrations were born for the increase in the price of gas and many essential goods.
