The body of Massimo Giua has been recovered, the 63-year-old Sardinian pilot and resident of Castiglione del Lago (Perugia) who crashed with a Cessna 208 Caravan while flying over Switzerland.

The confirmation comes from the Swiss authorities involved in the search operations: the rescuers, according to what is learned, would have been able to reach the place where the remains of the plane were, descending with the winch from the helicopter and managing to take, around 14 o'clock today, the pilot's body.

The accident occurred last Wednesday when Massimo Giua, a member of the Aeroclub Etruria of Arezzo and specialized in parachuting, had left Siegen in Germany where the plane had been subjected to an overhaul to reach the Arezzo airport.

During the return journey, the small plane, perhaps due to bad weather conditions, crashed head-on against Mount Grenzchopf, between the cantons of Appenzell and St. Gallen, settling on a gully impossible to reach in the early hours due to bad weather.

The Swiss judiciary is investigating the case: after the autopsy, the body will be returned to relatives.
