The countdown begins for the launch of New Shepard's space flight, scheduled for October 12. This was announced by Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos' company, which already went into orbit last July.

Among the lucky passengers who will be able to become "tourists" in space there is also William Shatner, a Canadian actor who played Captain Kirk in the Star Trek television series. With him will be the co-founder of Planet Labs, Chris Boshuizen, and the co-founder of Meditata Glen de Vries.

At 90, William Shatner will be able to fulfill his dream. "I have been hearing about space for a long time now. This will be an opportunity to see it. What a miracle," he said in a statement.

The actor will thus become the oldest ever to climb into orbit, the record belongs to Wally Funk, 82 years old. The civil flight of the New Shepard capsule, according to the Tmz magazine, will last about 15 minutes.
