Burmese leader Aung San Suu Kyi was pardoned: state media reported it.

A few days ago she was released from prison to be transferred to another facility.

In these hours, however, the news of the provision has arrived.

Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991, she was ousted from her role as head of government during the February 2021 military coup. She was subsequently sentenced to a total of 33 years in prison by a junta-controlled court for several alleged crimes.

"The chairman of the State Administration Council pardons Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, sentenced by the competent courts", the media reported. With a clarification: the pardon concerns five of the 19 sentences against him and it is not clear at the moment whether it will lead to his release.
