A zipline was installed illegally and permanently on the Sella del Diavolo and was seized by the Forestry Corps personnel, who removed from the area 150 meters of cable, dozens of bolts, the rope-tightening mechanism and the remaining equipment used to build the system.

The Public Prosecutor's Office has been informed of the case and for the moment proceedings are being conducted against unknown persons; investigators are working to identify those responsible .

The zipline had in fact been installed without authorization in a public area protected by regional and international landscape, environmental and forestry regulations .

The crimes contested range from environmental violations, for the modifications made to a protected area, to those against heritage, for the unauthorized occupation of public property.

Also not to be underestimated are the risks of an unattended zipline that anyone could use without supervision, with the risk of even serious accidents . The Forestry Corps emphasizes that the area is classified as being at the highest level of danger for landslides, so it would never have been possible to obtain a permit for the safe operation of the facility .

What is zipline?

It is a steel or textile cable secured in the rock and stretched between two points above a gully. From the upper point you launch yourself with a harness. An “adventurous” route, not always “dangerous”. But certainly dangerous if used without authorization and left unattended.
