"Not only did Cortese turn to starboard as required by international regulations in the presence of boats with opposite routes and stopped the engines, but the captain also put the machines back all the way. And by the time the Sweet Dragon passed through, she was already proceeding to reverse ".

This is what the lawyer Fabio Varone, lawyer of Luigi Cortese , the captain of the Berlusconi family 's Magnum 70 "Sweet Dragon" motorboat involved in the nautical accident of Porto Cervo, in which the yacht "Amore" ended up against the rocks of the island of Rocche, in the Gulf of Pevero, and where the British manager Dean Kronsbein died , seriously injuring his wife and daughter .

Cortese, 57 years old from Ischia, told the investigators his version of the facts claiming that it was the yacht "Amore", commanded by Mario Lallone, that had the wrong maneuver.

Lallone instead stated that he was forced to suddenly change course in order not to collide with the Magnum 70, a version that even the victim's family members would be supporting.

The Sweet Dragon motorboat gave first aid to the castaways, while the "May day" was launched from the gutted yacht at the Olbia Harbor Master's Office.

On board the Magnum owned by the former premier, at the time of the accident there were only the commander Luigi Cortese and another member of the crew.

The yacht had already disembarked the guests in Baia Sardinia and was heading south to return to the mooring in Porto Rotondo.
