It was also necessary to alert and send two Canadair aircraft that had taken off from Olbia to the scene to tackle the fire that broke out in the countryside of Furtei late this morning, Sunday, August 2nd.

In the initial phase , two helicopters from the operational bases of Villasalto and Iglesias intervened, along with Fenosu's Super Puma . But the initial resources—with ground teams struggling due to the inaccessible terrain—were insufficient.

The coordinator of the fire-fighting operations at the Sanluri Forestry Corps station requested that the planes be sent.

The emergency in Goni

Shortly before 5:00 PM, the alarm was raised in Goni, in the Palepardu area. The first intervention to support the teams on the ground was carried out by a light helicopter, but as the flames spread , the SuperPuma and the two Canadairs that had been working on Furtei up until that point were diverted to the area.

If Southern Sardinia was also affected by a fire in Uta, a blaze broke out in the late afternoon in Nuoro, in the Piratosta area, where two helicopters intervened,
