The Ministry of Health has issued a new warning for Cagliari: the heatwave alert level 3 (red code, the highest) has been confirmed for Monday, August 3, 2026. Temperatures in the capital will remain very high.

The adverse weather warning for high temperatures issued in recent days by the regional Civil Protection Department remains in effect throughout the day. It forecasts very high maximum temperatures across Sardinia , initially confined to inland areas, and subsequently expanding. Maximum temperatures will locally exceed 40 degrees, with peaks around 44 expected on Monday as well.

To limit the risks to the health of the population, the Municipal Operations Centre has confirmed the closure of the San Michele cemetery from 12.30 pm to 4 pm (the Bonaria and Pirri cemeteries observe Monday as their ordinary closing day) and also the closure of the Tuvixeddu Park for the whole day.

USEFUL NUMBERS – Health and social services remain highly vigilant. The Social Emergency Service is available 24/7 at 345.6865769. Additionally, the Telephone Helpline, established in collaboration with the Red Cross, continues to handle reports and requests for assistance, especially for the elderly and vulnerable. The number to call is 070.0933671, open daily, including holidays, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

CLIMATE REFUGES – To offer relief during the hottest days, the City Council has established climate refuges, public spaces that are cooler and more comfortable thanks to the presence of greenery, shade, and drinking fountains. These shelters include the main city parks: San Michele, Monte Urpinu, Terramaini, Musica, Giovanni Paolo II, Ex Vetreria, Giardini Pubblici, Giardino Sotto le Mura, Orto Dei Cappuccini, and Bonaria.

FIELDS AND CONSTRUCTION SITES – The Cagliari municipal administration also recalls that ordinance no. 3 of 17 June 2026, signed by the President of the Region, introduced specific protection measures for workers employed outdoors in the agricultural, horticultural, construction and plant engineering sectors, who are particularly exposed to the effects of high temperatures.
