The wait has been long. But after months of stalemate , work has officially begun on the construction of four new operating rooms at the Businco hospital in Cagliari, financed with 11 million euros from the Pnrr.
The investment, according to a note from Arnas Brotzu, will allow the modernization and expansion of the current operating block. Block F, currently equipped with two rooms, "will be completely renovated to accommodate four latest-generation integrated video operating rooms, equipped with cutting-edge technologies that represent the most modern operating rooms in the regional health system, equipped with adequate support spaces to guarantee maximum efficiency and safety in surgical pathways."
The intervention is expected to last approximately thirteen months "and will be concluded by June 2026".
"Thanks to this investment," comments the extraordinary commissioner of Brotzu, Maurizio Marcias, "the Region takes a decisive step towards strengthening the public health offer in the oncology field, contributing concretely to the reduction of extra-regional health mobility and offering Sardinian citizens the possibility of receiving excellent specialist care without having to leave the island. Arnas," he concludes, "confirms the will, never waning, to put the needs of patients at the center, and to strengthen the right to health for the entire Sardinian population."
