The "no" of the Sardinian territories to the plans for the installation of wind farms presented by the multinationals object of an extraordinary session of the Regional Council.

This is the hypothesis that emerged during the last session of the assembly's “Productive Activities” Commission , with the “assault” on the island at its centre.

The face-to-face was also attended by representatives of the territorial committees who oppose the uncontrolled installation of mega-wind farms in the Sarcidano, Anglona, Meilogu, Sulcis and Marmilla regions . And everyone has come to solicit the Region to take a strong position towards the national government.

«There are dozens of projects presented in Sardinia without consulting the mayors - said the representatives of the Committees - the multinationals obtain ministerial authorizations bypassing the Municipalities. The phenomenon must be managed. The Region must oppose the assault on the territory and draw up a map of suitable sites for the production of renewable energy ».
The committees signaled various critical situations with requests for dozens of wind turbines to be installed in places of particular naturalistic value: "Only in Isili there are proposals for 100 wind turbines - said Luigi Pisci of the Sarcidano Committee - projects that rain on the heads of local communities and against which the populations can do nothing. The same happens in another hundred municipalities in Sardinia».

An emblematic case is that of Villanovaforru where the mayor Maurizio Onnis received in recent days the communication from the Ministry authorizing the installation of 4 wind turbines 220 meters high: «One of these wind turbines is planned 500 meters from the nuraghe of Genna Maria – Onnis said – the situation is out of control, nobody is giving us a hand. The Region does nothing. Strong, extraordinary action is needed to try to counter the devastation of the Sardinian territory".

Similar situations were also reported by the representatives of Meilogu and Anglona: "The concept of Sardinian rurality and the development prospects linked to the protection of the landscape and biodiversity are being put at risk".
Opposition councilors Gianfranco Satta, Maria Laura Orrù, Alessandro Solinas and Salvatore Corrias lined up alongside the committees, urging a strong stance on the part of the Region. First of all with the definition of a map that identifies the areas destined for renewable energy plants: «The mayors should not be left alone - said Gianfranco Satta - in Sardinia there is an alternative proposal that goes in the direction of energy communities, an instrument at the service of the people and not of the multinationals".

For Maria Laura Orrù : «The Region must govern the process and avoid the jungle we are witnessing in every way».

Alessandro Solinas (M5S) spoke of an "invasion" and a "predatory mechanism" by the energy companies, while Salvatore Corrias (Pd) hoped for a position to be taken by the Regional Council: «We cannot continue to suffer in this way".
Also on the side of the committees is Valerio De Giorgi (Misto) who called for a common political front against the speculation in progress.

For Elena Fancello (Psd'Az): «Sardinia has already given, there is nothing more to give. A devastation is underway that must be countered in every way ».
At the end of the meeting, the president of the Commission Piero Maieli (Psd'Az) announced the convening of a series of hearings with the councilors for Industry, Environment and Agriculture to take stock of the situation and identify the actions to be implemented .
