The invasion of power plants is affecting a large portion of the Guspini territory, which has always been dedicated to agriculture and livestock farming with excellent economic results. The Neapolis area in particular shows and preserves important evidence of Roman, Carthaginian and Byzantine archeology of the past, today powerful bulldozers would like to dig kilometers of trenches to pass cable ducts for the transport of electricity produced in agricultural fields.
Laura Cadeddu, 56 year old geologist, promoter of a committee of residents for the defense of the countryside says: «To obtain more effective action, a group was formed to try to also involve farmers, breeders, owners of farmhouses and other related activities. It is important to involve the countless associations spread throughout the area so that they are informed and can make a contribution to the success of claiming a symbolic and identifying place for the local community, but, by extension, it represents a problem now common to the entire Region, with a large number of localities involved".

Antonio Giovanni Lampis, 50 year old lawyer : «The foundation of the claims to defend our territory concerns precisely our identity as a people. In the theory of the State, a country is made up of three elements, inseparably linked to each other: people, territory and sovereignty. Without control of the territory there are no people. Without control of the territory there is no sovereignty. Without control of the people there is only servitude. And this story could constitute the trigger for completing a process of defining the identity of the Sardinian people which has never been completed. The mines belonged to others. The coasts have been colonized by others. The inland territory is being taken by others. Our ability to move to and from Sardinia depends on others. There is a historical passage at stake here: we will need to understand if the Sardinians really exist as a people or if we are just inhabitants of the same island."

«We always talk about military servitude, but the enslavement of our territory is total and is everywhere. They are taking our land away - continues Lampis - And we, who do not have the correct historical perspective because these events are happening here and now, do not realize that it is an expropriation like the one suffered in the past by other peoples before us . Power is greedy and a virgin territory like that of Sardinia, a free and open territory that has no equal in Europe, tempts those looking for spaces to invest, occupy, experiment ."

Without control of the territory there is only servitude: «In Sardinia – continues the Guspinese lawyer – until today, nothing has been protected and nothing has been valorised. We are the region in the world with the highest concentration of monumental sites. Today's battle, against the occupation of the territory by energy multinationals, must become tomorrow's battle: not only defense but valorization of a unique territory in terms of language, identity, culture, tradition: an authentic open-air field that can constitute source of wealth for everyone, except that we give it away to those who want to make it a simple, banal, vulgar logistics platform for energy traffic", concludes Lampis.
