Wind attack on the island, the alarm from environmentalists: "A new park on the slopes of Montiferru"

A new wind farm on the slopes of Montiferru , this time towards the Campidano di Oristano.

It is the project of Sorgenia Renewables srl, which will concern the territories of Seneghe, Narbolia, San Vero Milis, Solarussa, Siamaggiore.

A new plant for which the environmental association Gruppo d'Intervento Giuridico (GrIG) has already presented an act of intervention in the environmental impact assessment procedure on Saturday 3 September .

The new project, which adds to the four wind farms already planned between Montiferru and Monte S. Antonio, would see the construction of another nine wind turbines more than 200 meters high , an accumulation plant (15.6 MW), a total power of 75 MW, an energy production "which will basically serve the lucrative revenues of energy companies," say environmentalists. They therefore ask for an assessment of the cumulative impacts.

Interested woods, Mediterranean maquis, agricultural areas and pastures , with wind towers, cable ducts, service structures well within the buffer zone extended three kilometers from the limit of protected areas with restrictions and/or landscape restrictions.

The GrIG presented the intervention document with "observations" in the EIA procedure, «because one thing is the sacrosanct use of energy from renewable sources, quite another thing is energy speculation and the related hoarding of agricultural land (or land grabbing of our house)».

«We reiterate once again our proposal - the conclusion of the environmentalists in a note -: it would be a very different thing if the State were to plan the areas at sea and on land on the basis of real energy needs where to install wind and photovoltaic plants and, after the involvement of Regions and local authorities and the performance of strategic environmental assessment procedures (SEA), put the sites to tender for the construction, management and removal at the end of the life cycle of the energy production plants to the best bidder".

The committees against mega renewable energy plants are now preparing for the new mobilization scheduled for September 14 in Cagliari with a procession from Piazza dei Centomila to the Regional Council.
