The latest wave of bad weather that hit Sardinia, and in particular the area of Oristano and Medio Campidano, left behind substantial damage to farms between Arborea, Terralba, Marrubiu and San Nicolò d'Arcidano.

«Not only the water, but the wind and the tornadoes were the real cause that led to hundreds of thousands of euros in damages – explains Tonino Sanna , president of Confagricoltura Oristano -. An initial estimate that for now concerns the greenhouses and tunnels that have been uncovered, knocked down or heavily damaged, to which all the lost product (mushrooms and vegetables) will have to be added, which was close to harvest right inside these structures».

«The climate crisis – he adds – confronts us with these events which by now no longer have the character of exceptionality, but which unfortunately we have to take into account when we start production planning among the items of expense or loss which will affect the final budget of the agricultural season. On the side of the activities that are the responsibility of the institutions, we ask that the sector structures of the Sardinia Region immediately take action to carry out a detailed verification of the damages in the companies ».

In Arborea and Terralba the Municipalities have already approved the declaration of the state of natural disaster , other administrations will do the same in the next few hours.
