A large quantity of heroin was seized in Porto Torres by the Financial Police.

The Fiamme Gialle, as part of checks at ferry landings, identified a passenger arriving from Genoa who got off the ship on foot, with hand luggage. At the first questions from the military about the reasons for the trip and the final destination, the man showed a suspicious attitude and provided evasive answers.

The financiers then called in the anti-drug dog Karma, employed by the Porto Torres Company, who showed specific interest in the passenger's backpack. Upon inspection, four wraps containing heroin were extracted, with a total weight of over 1.3 kg.

White heroin (diamorphine hydrochloride), produced in the geographical area known as the Golden Triangle, made up of Burma, Laos and Thailand, is the purest among those existing on the market and is also called heroin n. 4 because it requires 4 refining processes compared to 3 for basic heroin, known as brown sugar, a quality most widespread in this area.

The narcotic was seized and the man, of Nigerian nationality, arrested and taken to Bancali prison.

This is the second drug seizure carried out by the Finance Department from people who landed in Porto Torres in just over a month. Previously, a man found in possession of 1.5 kg of cocaine packaged in ovules had ended up in handcuffs.
