Waste buried in the “ La Marinella ” area, materials dumped irregularly over the years on the site near the beach of the same name, close to the industrial area of Porto Torres .

Currently, all sorts of material has been scattered across a vast area of approximately one hectare without ensuring correct disposal . This involves waste of all kinds, from plastic to construction waste, parts of furniture and asbestos.

The anomalous situation was reported by the environmentalist association "We protect the Gulf of Asinara" which sent a note to the Public Health and Hygiene Service following an inspection carried out in the area east of the "La Marinella" beach, where they are carrying out earthmoving operations without any cleanup of the area invaded by waste, much of which is buried.

«We observed the presence of many materials, plastic, glass, parts of furniture - explains the president of the association Giuseppe Alesso - attributable to the improper disposal of waste material from construction sites. Among these materials we also observed fragments of artefacts which are most likely made of asbestos."

The association “We protect the Gulf of Asinara” was formed in 2011, following the accident which occurred on 11 January 2011 from the terminal of the E-On power plant in Fiumesanto in Porto Torres which involved the spillage into the sea of approximately 50 cubic meters of fuel oil.

The situation of La Marinella was also reported to the Port Authority of Porto Torres.
