"The data released by Agenas shows some improvements in waiting times, particularly for diagnostic tests. This is a welcome sign, but it would be a grave mistake to use it to claim that the waiting list problem has been solved," said Fulvia Murru, general secretary of Uil Sardegna, regarding the data released yesterday by Agenas.

"The reality faced by thousands of Sardinian citizens every day is very different," he emphasizes. "In many cases, they still have to wait months to get a specialist appointment, while more and more people are forced to turn to private healthcare, incurring costs that not everyone can afford, or they forgo treatment altogether."

For Uil Sardegna, the issue remains the same: "Without sufficient doctors, nurses, technicians, administrative staff, and social and healthcare workers, no reform will produce lasting results. More continues to be asked of already overstretched staff, while delays in implementing local healthcare and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) prevent the pressure on hospitals from being eased."

"The Region must fully assume responsibility for addressing this emergency by accelerating the extraordinary hiring plan, making Community Homes and Hospitals fully operational, and ensuring stable governance consistent with the improvement objectives of all healthcare agencies," Murru emphasizes. " Waiting lists cannot be reduced by changing indicators or celebrating partial results. They can be reduced by increasing the range of services offered, investing in staff, better organizing services, and putting people at the center of the healthcare system."
