Two parallel paths to safeguard employment and resolve the dispute involving 41 workers of Villaservice, which deals with waste management in the Middle Campidano.

"We are setting the boundaries to try to reach a solution." This was said by the mayor of Villacidro Federico Sollai after the sensational protest of the worker, an employee of the company, who rose to a height of 20 meters on New Year's Eve.

«In the meantime the service passes into the hands of the industrial consortium which will have to manage the transitional period, entrusted to two external companies, and which has started the public selection of personnel to guarantee waste management with its own employees», explains the mayor, « this means that current Villaservice workers can also participate in this selection. The other hypothesis, which emerged from the regional technical table convened by me and with the mayors of Arbus, Gonnosfanadiga and Sanluri, is the possibility of acquiring the shares of Villaservice and maintaining the current workforce".

This solution, which would in any case involve an internal organizational restructuring of the possible new in-house company, however appears more uphill due to a millionaire dispute between Villaservice itself, owned by the public, and the consortium body.

«Obviously», concludes Sollai, «we are monitoring the situation with the liquidators of Villaservice to speed up the process by involving the Region so that it can support the transition on a strategic site included in the regional waste plan and save jobs».
