Two years and 10 thousand euros of provisional payment. This is the sentence decided yesterday in court in Sassari by the preliminary hearing judge Giuseppe Grotteria, in an abbreviated trial, against a 28-year-old from Alghero accused of injuries and deformation of the person's appearance through permanent injuries to the face.
According to the charges, the man had hit a security guard at a bar in Villanova Monteleone in 2022 by throwing a bottle in his face . At that time, restrictions on entry to premises due to Covid were still in force and the accused wanted to enter despite the ban. When the staff refused, he reacted by throwing the bottle that had ended up on the cheekbone of the injured party, causing a wound of several centimetres. The scar was examined during the last hearing to assess whether it was permanent.
As important as the mark was, it was not ultimately considered a disfigurement that compromised the harmony of the face, a conclusion that led to the requalification of the crime as injuries. But the downsizing of the accusation still led to an important sentence: two years, as written, to the payment of civil costs and 10 thousand euros of provisional money, to be paid within six months to benefit from the suspension of the sentence. The victim was assisted by the lawyer Francesco Porcu while Elias Vacca defended the accused.
