And now the work (even) on the construction site in via Roma has stopped. After those of the metro (restarted a month ago after a problem with the company) it is now the turn of the more important ones, which have been revolutionizing the road network for three months and which are blocked "indefinitely" after the archaeological finds a few weeks ago . The Municipality must approve a variant to the project to find a new location for the rainwater collection tanks and the Superintendence will then have to approve it: only then (when?) will the bulldozers and workers return to the construction site. «Interlocutions are underway with the Superintendency for the restart, as soon as possible, of the construction site with the modifications that have become necessary», explains the councilor for traffic Alessio Mereu. «We need to modify the project to preserve the ancient structures», confirms the superintendent Monica Stochino.

Changes

Now the question is: how long will the construction site be blocked? And by how much will the end of the works be postponed? Originally, the administration had scheduled the reopening of the new via Roma for the autumn. At this point a lengthening of the times will be inevitable. The Municipality and the Superintendence reassure that "these are quite normal situations, given the area of the construction site" and everything will be done to ensure that the works start again and finish as soon as possible even if "at this moment a deadline cannot be evaluated". It is up to the administration to present a variant to the project and indicate the new areas where to build the water accumulation tanks and inevitably redesign the pipelines. Once the new design has been defined, it will then be up to the Superintendence to say yes or no, to agree on the new location of the tanks together.
