Vannacci and the Costa Rei grouper used for the "face of the left": animal rights activists have announced a complaint to the Cagliari prosecutor's office.
According to Aidaa, the general is responsible for mistreatment: the fish that appeared in the video was then eaten.

General Roberto Vannacci's provocation on August 15th in the sea off Costa Rei , in south-eastern Sardinia, did not go unnoticed.
" This is me and the face of the left in the next elections ," Vannacci said in a video filmed in the water holding a grouper and posted on his social media pages.
The gesture by the MEP and deputy secretary of Salvini's League, however, did not sit well with animal rights activists, who alleged that the large fish was eaten on the evening of Saturday, August 16th. Thus, the Italian Association for the Defense of Animals and the Environment (Aidaa) announced it was filing a complaint with the Cagliari prosecutor's office "requesting an investigation into the crime of animal cruelty pursuant to Article 544 of the Criminal Code."
In a statement, animal rights activists condemned the general's actions: " The video shows clear disregard for animals, and in particular for that poor grouper, shamefully and improperly used for purposes that have nothing to do with nature. But above all, this serious and unacceptable act," Aidaa denounces, "highlights the risk of simulation, given that Vannacci is no ordinary person. For this reason, we demand his formal and public apology."
Once the holidays are over, Vannacci will be in the Selargius council chamber on Friday, August 22nd, at 7:00 PM, for a public meeting to discuss the future of Europe, the role of Sardinia, and the challenges facing our region.
