The vandals inflict yet another blow on the "Dome" of Costa Paradiso , east of Trinità d'Agultu and Vignola, built in 1970 by the architect Dante Bini for the famous director Michelangelo Antonioni and for his "muse" Monica Vitti.

The work (one of the many "Binishell" built in the world) is in a state of abandonment despite the safeguards and now the discovery: it has been devastated by the spray cans of the writers.

To mark it is a reader, Alessandro, who, attaching some photos, recalls how the Dome of Bini (born in Castelfranco Emilia in 1932), an architectural work now abandoned, still remains today "a work of inestimable cultural and historical value".

«Michelangelo Antonioni was a pioneer in the world of cinema, and this dome represents not only his link with Sardinia, but also a tangible testimony of his talent and his artistic achievements», explains Alessandro, adding: «The act of vandalism which damaging this precious structure was a despicable and cowardly act. Not only has it destroyed a piece of local history and culture, but it has also offended the memory of an artist who has left an indelible mark on the world film scene. This type of action cannot and must not go unnoticed, as it concerns us all closely, questioning our respect for the artistic and cultural heritage of our region and our country".

Alessandro also underlines the fact that the act of vandalism is the spy of the other. "Those who have allowed the abandonment of this structure and those who have not promoted and disclosed its importance - he explains - have a share of responsibility for the deterioration of the building and its vulnerability. It is the duty of the institutions and of the community itself to ensure that these architectural treasures are preserved, valued and (perhaps) accessible to the public».
