Valledoria: they push out to sea in rough seas, he drowns and his wife is saved in extremis

A 79-year-old Austrian tourist died in the rough waters off Maragnani beach, on the La Ciaccia coast of Valledoria .

The old man and his wife had ventured out to sea, going too far despite the prohibitive sea conditions .

It happened around 5:30 p.m., when the 79-year-old and his 72-year-old wife found themselves in difficulty. The man drowned, and attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. The woman was saved thanks to the intervention of the helicopter rescue team that, after retrieving her, with the support of the men of the Coast Guard, was transferred to the emergency room of the Santissima Annunziata in Sassari. The Valledoria Carabinieri were also on site.
