“The current situation threatens not only the quality of care, but also the well-being and safety of healthcare workers, who are faced with increasingly heavy workloads.”
The alarm was raised by Gianfranco Angioni, regional representative of USB Sanità, who points the finger at the lack of personnel in the health departments of the Cagliari University Hospital.
"Within the departments, the small number of social-health workers and nurses is now unsustainable . It is absolutely unlawful that dozens of nurses are forced to divert precious time from their primary functions to cover coordination roles, without receiving adequate recognition or compensation", continues the union representative who reiterates the urgency of "guaranteeing the adequate number of workers and fair compensation for the higher tasks already performed, including any arrears and accrued interest".
Usb Sanità says it is ready to undertake "all necessary actions to protect the rights of workers, increasingly numerous in trusting in the union organization" and asks the "institutions to respond quickly to restore a dignified and safe working environment".
