On August 14th and 15th, Carabinieri from the NAS unit in Cagliari carried out checks at numerous establishments in the province: 230 businesses (including kiosks, beach resorts, and restaurants) were inspected, with total fines of €10,000 and goods worth €31,000 seized.
In particular:
- In Sestu , a kiosk's service was suspended due to serious hygiene deficiencies, uncontrolled storage, and failure to comply with self-monitoring procedures.
- In Domus de Maria (Chia), a beach resort was found guilty of violations related to the failure to implement HACCP procedures and poor staff hygiene, requiring immediate adaptation of the facilities and equipment.
- In Pula , inside a restaurant, an administrative seizure was carried out of approximately 80 kilograms of pork without health certification and the failure to register as a beach resort was contested.
- In Cagliari , at Poetto, the NAS Carabinieri found hygiene and sanitation deficiencies in a kiosk, with complaints relating to the cleanliness of the premises and compliance with food self-control procedures.
The provincial commander, Brigadier General Luigi Grasso, emphasized that "the Carabinieri's actions, both territorial and specialized, represent a fundamental safeguard not only for security, but also for public health, because the proper storage and preparation of food is an integral part of protecting citizens."
