«We are arriving, in ten minutes we will be home on time for lunch»: Rosalba Piscedda , 64 years old from San Giovanni Suergiu, and her daughter Romina Amasio , 40 years old and former municipal councilor, would never have thought that they would not be able to keep that promise made to their family while , aboard their black Opel Corsa, had left the island of Sant'Antioco behind them . It was around 1pm and their car was proceeding at a moderate speed in line behind other vehicles along state road 126 when, according to the dynamics that appear most probable, a car engaged in an overtaking maneuver hit a fire brigade vehicle which overturned the impact hit the Opel Corsa with Rosalba Piscedda and Romina Amasio on board. Help was useless for the 64-year-old , while her daughter was transferred under code red to the Brotzu in Cagliari for checks.

The second tragedy occurred in Viale Umberto, in the historic center of Ittiri , where the just 19-year-old Sebastiano Pasquarelli was hit with his motorbike , a Supermotard 125, which emerged from a side street. A young local woman is driving. The motorbike entered between the sheets of the SUV and the boy flew about 20 meters before ending up on the ground, lifeless. The helmet he was wearing did nothing to protect him from the trauma of the impact against the asphalt.

The father of the deceased young man - the family lives not far away, in via Sassari - rushed to the scene after a few minutes: heartbreaking scenes in front of a son lost in this way. And then the shock of a local community that still cannot explain how fate could rage against this family : Salvatore Piga , uncle of the victim on his mother's side, died last August at just 36 years old in an accident on the provincial road between Ittiri and Villanova Monteleone. In the same summer, the grandfather's brother, Nicola Pasquarelli , 78 years old, was found dead and charred in an olive grove near the Botanical Garden of Sassari.
