Moments of fear in Trinità d'Agultu where a gas cylinder exploded in a house on the first floor of a building in via Delle Poste .
A 78-year-old pensioner, Auriello Canali, originally from Emilia Romagna, was seriously injured , with trauma and burns to various parts of his body. The accident involved two people in two nearby apartments . The man, who remained conscious throughout, was extracted from the rubble by the Tempio firefighters and, after initial treatment by 118 operators, was transferred aboard the emergency helicopter to the Sassari Major Burns Center.
Another woman, fortunately unharmed, a carer who was alone at the time in the adjacent apartment , unable to leave due to the debris blocking the entrance, was rescued with the Sassari fire brigade's ladder truck.
The three-story building was declared unfit for use and Mayor Giampiero Carta ordered the closure of the public road for safety reasons . The Valledoria Carabinieri, the 118 ambulance and the fire brigade official investigating the causes of the explosion were also on site. The operations are coordinated by the provincial commander Antonio Giordano.
