The sixty-year-old man from Assemini, arrested yesterday, Thursday, September 17, as part of the investigation into online child pornography conducted by the Postal Police under the coordination of the Rome Prosecutor's Office, remains in prison.

The defendant's detention was confirmed after questioning before the investigating judge of the Cagliari court, Ermengarda Ferrarese: the accused, assisted by lawyer Ignazio Ballai, decided to answer questions and admitted to downloading a large quantity of sexually explicit photos and videos featuring minors.

He described himself as "just" a user who downloaded the material and denied being part of the network that, according to the capital's prosecutors, had set up a sort of multinational paedophile organisation that relied on the Telegram network to spread the terrifying images.

Another Sardinian, aged 33, is also involved in the investigation, which has led to a total of 17 arrests throughout Italy.
