The second consecutive day of hearings has concluded in the trial in Tempio Pausania in which Ciro Grillo , Francesco Corsiglia, Vincenzo Lauria and Eodoardo Capitta are accused , the four Genoese friends accused of an alleged gang rape of an Italian-Norwegian student, which took place during the night between 16 and 17 July 2019 in a villa in Porto Cervo .

Space for the defense experts. After the opinion of the medical examiner Marco Salvi (according to whom the girl who reported the alleged rape was not drunk ), the judging panel heard the computer scientist Mattia Epifani.

A long and detailed deposition was conducted by the second defense consultant who illustrated the methods with which the entire mass of information and message exchanges were analyzed, 40 terabytes of material extracted from five cell phones, those used by the four defendants and the alleged victim .

370 pages of data analysis, messages, calls, photos and social media posts, with which in a meticulous and chronological manner, the actions of the boys and the alleged victim are reconstructed in the days preceding the contested fact, and in the days following . All the movements, conversations and interactions on social media of both the defendants and the student ended up under the scrutiny of the IT consultant, who reconstructed them also through the support of photos and videos extracted from the electronic devices.

The data dating back to 2018, therefore before the summer in which the violence in Costa Smeralda allegedly occurred, also ended up under the magnifying glass of the analysis carried out by the defense expert. Part of the information collected in the five seized phones, the most consistent, dates back to the night between July 16 and 17, 2019.

In the courtroom, through photos, videos, social media posts, exchanges of messages and phone calls, and geolocations, the IT consultant showed step by step the unfolding of the evening, from the Billionaire nightclub where the group of friends from Genoa met the Italian-Norwegian student, to the terraced house in Porto Cervo, and then the hours, days and weeks following the alleged sexual assault.

The next hearings are scheduled for December 2 and 16 , when an interpreter, a court expert, and the last defense witness, David Enrique Bye Obando , the former boyfriend of the main accuser, who was supposed to appear in court last September 23, will be heard. Norwegian of Nicaraguan origin, the young man was accused by the Italian-Norwegian student of having raped her at a campsite in Norway in May 2018.

According to an initial estimate, the first-instance ruling should presumably arrive in the spring of 2025.
